Since 1981, the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) has promoted and advanced awareness of victims’ rights each year during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW). NOVA invites victim advocates, crisis responders, allied professionals, survivors and communities around the world to join us in our annual observation of NCVRW.
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be April 7-13, 2019. Stay tuned for trainings and events hosted by NOVA to unite and inspire communities in our ongoing march for victims’ rights.
Here’s what happened in April 2018:
We reached out for nominations for Exceptional Individuals and Organizations Making a Difference in Victim Advocacy and announced our Advocate Award Winners to be honored at NOVA’s 44th Annual Training Event, August 20-23, 2018.
Over 200 people joined NOVA for an live-virutal, panel discussion on challenges and lessons learned as advocates and crisis responders in the aftermath of the mass violence shooting incidents at Pulse and the concert in Las Vegas.
NOVA Executive Director Chief Justice Richard Barajas (ret.) and Deputy Direct Claire Ponder Selib shared their insights on a career in advocacy during this Facebook Live Event!
Victim Advocates from around the world participated in NOVA’s 2018 First-Ever Virtual 5K Walk/Run. They organized groups among their local community members and created their own 5K route, raising awareness and engaging others to promote and enforce victims’ rights
