Lily Lightning Bug and Her Stolen Glow
Lily Lightning Bug and Her Stolen Glow
Written by NOVA's past Executive Director, Jeannette Adkins, the book takes the young reader to Bug World, where Lily Lightning Bug’s glow is stolen as she dances among the flowers in the meadow one summer evening. The story follows her from her frightening experience through her journey to justice in the Bug County Courthouse. Accompanied by her victim advocate, Loretta Ladybug, Lily’s journey is designed to prepare children for the criminal justice system and to lessen the fear of the unknown. This little book makes a wonderful gift for the advocate’s favorite investigator, prosecutor or judge. All proceeds help NOVA in its mission of assisting victims of crime and crises. Here's what two young readers had to say about Lily: "After I read the book, I feel brave now that I have the power to tell the truth. I feel happy that [he] is in jail. I feel more safe that I have that person to stand next to me and tell my feelings. I think your book is a feeling book and a helping book for children who are young and have been attacked." "After I read this book, it made me think of what happened to me. It made me have courage to tell the truth about what happened even though it was private. Now I am not scared anymore. I feel happy that I don’t have to worry or think about it. I think this book will be good for kids who have not done anything wrong and have had something bad happen to them."
