The 2009 Annual Conference took place August 23-27, 2009. Thank you to all who attended. We look forward to seeing you next year! The 2009 Conference information on the remainder of this site is provided for historical purposes.
The period for Survivor Scholarship applications has ended. Thank you to all who applied. Professional Development Scholarships
For more information or to apply for a scholarship, please contact Laura Unterholzner at OVC TTAC at 866-682-8822 x. 3352 or visit the OVC TTAC website http://www.ovcttac.gov. Crime Victim Survivor ScholarshipsThe Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) in the U.S. Department of Justice, will again provide NOVA with a limited number of scholarships* to survivors of crime who are working to help other victims. In the past, NOVA has received an overwhelming number of applications in response to the OVC-supported Crime Victim Survivor Scholarship program. Therefore, selection will be based upon those applications best meeting the criteria outlined on this page. After all spaces are filled, the selection process will be closed. Applications must be received by April 30, 2009, 5PM EST. Successful applicants will be notified by email or letter by June 15. NOVA regrets that we will be unable to offer scholarships to all applicants and will notify unsuccessful applicants by email or letter as soon as possible. The purpose of the scholarship program is to help victims who have joined the victims’ movement – as advocates for change, or counselors for other victims, or both – to improve their knowledge and skills, and to network with colleagues. It is especially aimed at victims/survivors who could not otherwise afford to attend the conference.
We regret that the program does not cover transportation or meals. Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Awards
NOVA will maintain confidentiality of all personal information. NOVA will not forward to OVC names and address of applicants who are selected for scholarship awards. NOVA and OVC will require scholarship participants to prepare a post-conference report that indicates how they will use the information and experience gleaned by their attendance at the conference to enhance their service to others. Please download the application and submit by fax to the NOVA office at 703-535-5500 or mail to: NOVA, Scholarship Program; 510 King Street; Suite 424; Alexandria, VA 22314 no later than April 30, 2009. *This event is supported in part through funding from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, United States Department of Justice. Points of view expressed in this event are those of the organizers and do not necessarily represent the official position or policies of the U.S. Department of Justice. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
