Advanced Training Academy for Child & Family Advocates

The Child & Family Advocacy Academy(CFAA) is an 18-hour advanced training academy developed in partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). This online training academy is designed to provide evidence-based best practices, enhance-based best practices, enhance valuable skills and share prevention models and systems-based approaches for professionals working with child and adolescent victims of crime and their families.

Who attends?

This course is designed for professionals working with child and adolescent victims of crime and their families.  There is no prerequisite, however, those enrolling should already have foundational knowledge in victim services.

Dates

The CFAA is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks starting during November and December from 1:00pm – 4:15pm Eastern Time via Zoom Meeting.

Specific dates will be announced closer to registration.

Cost

Applicants who apply by the Early Bird are eligible for the discounted rate of $300. The registration rate after that date is $350. 

NOVA Members enjoy a discounted rate of 10% off.

NOVA does offer limited need-based scholarships for the training academies. The scholarship covers the registration fee only and all scholarship recipients are required to have access to Zoom and a microphone feature to complete the academy. The scholarship application will be provided when registration opens.

The CFAA offers 18 CEUs in total.

The course is offered through Zoom Meeting. While access to camera/video and microphone aren’t required, it is highly encouraged.

We understand that life happens, and that’s okay! CFAA’s make-up policy ensures that all class sessions will be recorded and participants will have the opportunity to make up two missed sessions in order to receive a certificate for completion. Every CFAA class allows participants the unique opportunity to engage with subject matter experts in real time, which makes attendance a critical part to maximize learning.
